Literary Lacquers July Releases

Hey everyone, today I have seven new polishes to share with you that are in one way or another book-inspired, which is totally perfect timing because I've been on a reading binge as of late and so polishes inspired by books is just perfect timing.

*Press Samples*

This Literary Lacquers collection is a little of this and a little of that, not one cohesive package, but I think that makes it all the more interesting and much more likely that there is a polish in here for everyone. We have an Othello duo, an Ann Rice duo, a Game of Thrones polish and two book club-inspired polishes.

These polishes will be available starting Monday July 25 in the Literary Lacquers shop and you don't need to worry about running out of stock, Amy keeps her shopped well stocked at all time. The book club polishes have a bit more explanation about their availability, so stay tuned at the end of the post for that!

First is one of two creme polishes with names inspired by Othello. This is Literary Lacquers Desdemona's Handkerchief. This is a lovely aqua blue creme which took three thin coats for opacity (two thicker coats will probably work for most, my nails are a lot longer than they typically are in this post). This polish reminds me of bright summer days and it has just enough aqua in it to give it a great pool-vibe. It's light and bright and perfect for this time of year.

This is Literary Lacquers If Thou Hast Eyes to See. This is a gorgeous key-lime green creme polish that is super bright and pairs really well with the beautiful Desdemona's Handkerchief from above. I think these are two super fun colors and are sure to be noticed on the nails. I needed three thin coats for opacity, but I'm sure most would be fine with two thicker coats. My batch had some teeny-tiny pigment clumps in it, as you can see in the macro, but Amy assures me that she has fixed this issue!

This next pairing is a duo designed with Nichole of Bedlam Beauty, shout out to another Bay Area blogger! Amy and Nichole worked together to design both polishes after geeking out because they have both seen vampire extraodinare author Ann Rice's house in the Garden District of New Orleans.

First up we have Literary Lacquers Lestat. This is an super metallic linear holographic lilac polish. Amy has been killing it with the metallic polishes lately and this is no exception. "Icy and cool like the vampire himself," Amy's descriptions reads and she isn't kidding. This lavendar beauty is packed with metallic silver flakies and holographic pigment to create that super gorgeous metallic finish. Who doesn't like a polish that packs a punch inside and out?!? Easy formula to work with, opaque in two coats. Dries to a satin finish (as you can see in the indirect light photos).

The second of the vampire-inspired polishes is Literary Lacquers Louis – "black hair, green eyes, the vampire with a guilty conscious." This glitter topper really packs quite the punch. It is packed with emerald green holo squares and hexes, black hexes and aqua and gold microglitter. For everyone who appreciates complex glitters, you're going to want to get your hands on this one. It was easy to apply all the glitter evenly in one coat, no dabbing or sponging needed. A thicker top coat is recommended, as glitter toppers need more to create a smooth finish. Looks good over black or white, or even a lighter green (perhaps If Thou Hast Eyes to See).

This next polish is a beauty stands alone, but in this case, that is definitely not a bad thing. This was inspired by Cate Cropp, a member of the Literary Lacquer fan group. Cate has an "obsessive love for green nail polish" and kept sending Amy "screencaps of wildfire explosions from Game of Thrones" until this polish was created – named for events that do not yet occur in the books, buy maybe someday will.

This is Literary Lacquers Long May She Reign and this polish is complex and gorgeous. This is a bright lime green leaning chartreuse microglitter crelly inspired by Cersei's revenge. This polish is a beautiful green with a golden glow and is just almost neon bright and happy and I loooooove greens like this, just live for them actually. I used two coats for this opacity and you can see some visible nail line, but I think that is basically just due to nail length for this post.

These next two polishes were inspired by Literary (&) Lacquers' (the Facebook fan group) own book club selections. Almost monthly we select a book to read as a group (anyone can jump in and out as they like) and then the readers post inspiration photos based off passages from the books and Amy eventually creates a polish and BOY OH BOY has she really outdone herself with these two beauties. I actually read both these books so am so excited to play with these polishes fully understanding their inspirations!

One caveat of these two polishes, you need to be a member of the Facebook fan group in order to purchase (but the more the merrier, so come join us awesome bibliophiles). One more note, these are LE and are available July 25 through August 31, so still many many weeks left to order and prepare.

This is Literary Lacquers Sugar, Curiosity and Rain inspired by We Were Liars E. Lockhart and designed with Christy Eileen Brown. This novel takes place on an island and I can't think of a better polish to evoke the ocean than this one. I was actually out on a boat for a burial at sea service on Friday (a family friend of my in-laws) and this polish literally matched waters off Santa Cruz (I did a little nautical stamping to go with it as you can see). This is a teal leaning blue linear holo with light blue shimmer and was opaque in two easy coats. Still wearing it on Sunday night so I can assure you this polish has staying power.

Last but not least is Literary Lacquers Oh Calamity! inspired by Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty (and soon to be an HBO miniseries!!!) and designed with Samantha Terris Parks. This is an aqua leaning teal linear holo with fine deep blue microglitter. This one also evokes images of the ocean to me, more clear water beaches of warmer more tropical climates. Opaque in two easy coats, but requires a thick top coat because the microglitter can dry a little bumpy.

I am so sorry this took me so long to get up on my blog, between coming home from vacation, having a shortened work week and hosting my inlaws, I was just able to get this in under the wire! Once again these polishes are available Monday July 25 from the Literary Lacquers shop.
